Based on the previous year’s success, the joint meeting between the IOC and the Association of IOC Recognised International Sports Federations (ARISF) held during the 2018 SportAccord Convention in Bangkok, Thailand, perfectly matched the expectations.

Meeting attendees included IOC President Thomas Bach, IOC Vice Presidents and senior management, ARISF President Raffaele Chiulli and the full ARISF Council.
President Bach expressed his satisfaction for the excellent collaboration between the IOC and ARISF throughout the past year and outlined how the relationship between the two organizations continues to go from strength to strength.

The IOC expressed high appreciation for the five ARISF members included in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games Sport Program, the four ARISF members included in the 2018 Buenos Aires Youth Olympic Games Sport Program and two ARISF members invited to showcase their activities and one member included in the Lausanne 2022 Winter Youth Olympic Games Sport Program.

ARISF President Raffaele Chiulli underlined how the flexibility of the Olympic Program, foreseen by the Olympic Agenda 2020, has clearly given new opportunities to the recognized IFs. The ARISF President thanked the IOC President for the cordial and productive meeting aimed at further strengthening the IOC-ARISF cooperation and on behalf of the whole Council and our Members congratulated President Bach for his great achievement in the unified participation of North and South Korea to the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.

On the same day, a very fruitful IOC-ARISF Sport Participation Strategy Workshop was held and all ARISF IF’s gave their concrete contribution on how to engage youth in sport activities and promote an active lifestyle in society. President Chiulli concluded the workshop by thanking all for the ongoing support and valued collaboration and stated that ARISF will continue to constructively work in the overall interest of the Sport Family at large.
