17 November 2005 - DECLARATION of the Council of the Association of IOC Recognized International Sports Federations regarding a possible revote on the exclusion of softball and baseball from the Olympic Games
The Council of the Association of IOC Recognized International Sports Federations (ARISF) is surprised by the announcement that the IOC Session could reverse its earlier and final decision to exclude baseball and softball from the Program of the 2012 Olympic Games. The decision was made after a careful process initiated by the IOC Executive Board and fully supported by ARISF. In this process, a careful evaluation was made of all sports on the Olympic Program and five of the Recognized Sports, namely golf, karate, roller sports, rugby, and squash. Based on this evaluation, the IOC Session decided to remove baseball and softball from the program of the 2012 Olympic Games. More....

8 June 2005 - 8 June 2005 - IOC Recognized Sports Confident that Olympic Program will Change
The Council of the Association of IOC Recognized International Sports Federations (ARISF) today confirmed their support for planned changes in the Olympic Program. ARISF fully supports the work done by the Olympic Programme Commission and the decisions taken by the IOC Executive Board to make a fair comparison between those sports that are currently on the program and the five Recognized Sports that have been short-listed for inclusion in the 2012 Olympic Games. 24 April 2005 - New Council Elected
At the ARISF General meeting, held on 17 April 2005 in Berlin, a new ARISF Council was elected. Jan Fransoo (Netherlands, Korfball) will serve the Association for the next four years as its President. The other Council members are: Jorgen Sandman (Sweden, Billard Sports - Vice President), Barbro Ronnberg (Finland, Orienteeing - Secretary General), Keith Calkins (USA, Raquetball - Director), Max Bishop (UK, Air Sports - Director), Regine Vandenkerckhove (Belgium, Powerboating - Director).
Outgoing President Ron Froehlich was awarded the Honorary Membership. Froehlich will continue serving ARISF as President Emeritus. He will remain fully focused on relations with the IOC, in particular with regard to changes in the Olympic Program.
22 September 2004 - Five Sports in running for Olympic inclusion
LONDON (AP) - Five sports - golf, rugby, squash, karate and roller sports - are in the running for possible inclusion at the 2012 Olympics.
The International Olympic Committee said Wednesday it has notified the governing bodies of the five sports that they will be ``studied further'' as part of a review of the games' competition schedule. More....
