The Community Of World Sport

IOC President RoggeThe 32 International Federation Members of ARISF are a part of the Olympic Movement. In these fast-changing times where the interests of young people are rapidly evolving, the Olympic Programme for the Summer and Winter Games is constantly under review to ensure it remains relevant to young generations. When the IOC Programme Commission looks at the programme of the Games, it does not only consider ways of enhancing the sports that are already on the programme, but also looks at the IOC-recognised sports to evaluate their potential contribution to the future Games.

As IOC President, I have had the pleasure to attend several world championships of the various sports that combine to form ARISF, and to witness many exciting performances at The World Games, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, All African Games, Pan-American Games and other major multi-sport events. There is no doubt that all these sports contribute positively to the international sporting landscape by sharing the Olympic ideals and values.

In the same way that the IOC recognises these International Federations, I would encourage national level stakeholders, particularly National Olympic Committees, to recognise and support their member national federations.

We are all part of the community of world sport, and by working together we will grow stronger together.

Jacques Rogge

IOC President
